Lifestyle, Mothers Day

5 things to do for Mother’s Day this year to totally spoil Mum or yourself!

The second Sunday in May is always one to look forward to. It’s a special day where we get to focus on the wonderful women in our lives, that seriously deserve to be celebrated, supported and spoiled – of course!

Whether it’s your own Mother, Mother In Law, Aunty, Sister, friend or yourself – It’s the perfect excuse to spend the day with your special ones, enjoying time together, a little indulgence and making the most of a day dedicated to Mummas -the total queens that they are!

With a bunch of exciting events on the go, delicious food to eat and beautiful places to see, we’re sharing our top 5 things to do this Mother’s Day.

If you’re in Melbs…

The Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run

The Annual Mother’s Day Classic has been running for 21 years and counting, to support an amazing cause. It’s a morning fun run (or walk, we can assure you we would certainly be walking!) dedicated to support The Pink Ribbon National Breast Cancer Foundation raising much needed awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research. The aim of the morning is to deliver an inspirational, fun and healthy event on Mother’s Day, and bring people together to remember those who have been touched by breast cancer. It’s the perfect opportunity to get out and about, and enjoy a walk around the beautiful Alexandra Gardens and the Tan track. It’s such a worthy cause and a great way to get active with the whole family this Mother’s Day!

Lunch at The Conservatory

If you’re a Melbourne local and you really want to spoil mum this year (or drop the hint to your family) we definitely suggest Mother’s Day lunch at the Conservatory at Crown. Indulgence is literally at an all time high – absolutely no diets here please. Think high end buffet style dining with all the trimmings, seafood, just about every cuisine you could ever want, a dessert bar (oh my god – amazing!) and French champagne flowing. Finish with a stroll along South Bank to (attempt) to work off everything consumed! Just lovely!

If you’re a Sydney sider…

A Day At The Gallery

Is there anything better than an afternoon roaming the Art Gallery of NSW with your mum and seeing the latest exhibition? And what makes it even better? A spread at Chiswick, one of Sydney’s favourite restaurants. Mother’s Day is all about sharing delicious food together and of course a cheeky vino, and why not do it while enjoying the gorgeous view overlooking Woolloomooloo pier. Featuring a fresh, seasonal menu with a focus on local produce and a casual dining experience vibe! Yes please!

A casual picnic with a view

If you’re looking for a more relaxed, cost effective vibe for your day with Mum, why not enjoy a simple picnic together! Choose your favourite spot to enjoy some sunshine. Our suggestion? Take a long walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens or set up in Clifton Gardens in Mosman – situated right by a sandy white beach. And if you’re totally time poor, Chilterns Catering and events organise your picnic for you, blanket included! Think delicious gourmet cheeses, dips, delicious salads – all delivered to you!

For our own celebrations this Mother’s Day, we’ve teamed up with our friends over at I AM BOARD Melbourne to give one lucky lady the chance to win the ultimate wine & cheese prize pack! (We know – best prize ever!). The prize pack includes
