We uncover Australia’s Best Wine Regions

It’s no secret. We’re absolutely, filthily spoilt rotten. Our sunburnt country is home to a wealth of extraordinary wine regions. Whether you’re planning an epic, national wine tour, or just holding out for an excuse to spend a weekend interstate, we’re touring you through some of the finest wine playgrounds. Pack light, you’ll want to bring entire Cellar Doors home with you after we share some of our favourite wines from each wine capital.

Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Only an hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD, Mornington Peninsula’s wine region is a coastal haven, with vineyards under ten kilometres from breathtaking shorelines. The signature drops? Think chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot noir. For a nautical nod to winery-hopping, make your way around the boutique Cellar Doors and soak in those coastal views. For a taste of Mornington’s finest, opt for the Even Keel Rosé from our Pretty Pinks pack. This Peninsula gem rings with rose petals, spice and strawberries. Bright and medium-bodied, this drop pays fabulous homage to Victoria’s breezy wine mecca.

King Valley (VIC)

Go knocking on a King Valley cellar door and be warmly embraced by lineages of passionate winemaking families, well-versed in La Dolce Vita. Tasty, Italian varietals are a hallmark of this alluring region. Strap yourself in for a pasta-filled, napoli-smothered feast at the table, and soak it all up with unparalleled wine styles. Without boarding a plane, you can have your slice of Verona by sipping on The Dagger Pinot Grigio from our Fresh Whites pack. Hailing from Italy’s exotic northeast, the cult Pinot Grigio is like water to a native. Just like a dagger, it’s sharp and refined, swirling the freshness of Nashi pears with the traditional acidity of a Pinot Grigio.

Yarra Valley (VIC)

Ah, the beloved Yarra Valley. Less than one hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD, this microcosm of fabulous wine is steeped in rich history and tarty chardonnay. Yum. Being Victoria’s oldest wine region, the Yarra Valley dates back to 1838, and now spans provincial farmhouses, vibrant, family-friendly cellar doors and fine-dining fantasies. Alongside renowned bottles of fizz, you’ll find complex pinot noir and world class cabernet sauvignon here. We’re doting over the Pacha Mama Pinot Noir from our Light Reds pack, ripe with sour cherry and wild strawberries.

Barossa Valley (SA)

The beautiful Barossa is home to sixth generation grape-growing families. The wine custodians here maintain a labour of love over some of Australia’s oldest vines. Expect stellar shiraz, grenache and mataro. The region has also been revolutionised by a new wave of wine trailblazers, tempering modern winemaking methods with that easygoing Barossa mode de vie. Call off the search, heaven’s here. If you simply love wining and dining, unwrap our ‘For the Foodie’ pack to find the fragrant Gestalt Serotina Grenache Shiraz. This bright, cheery red is an ode to the new era of Barossa Valley wines, grown on a single organically-farmed vineyard. (Oh, and it’s just so delicious).

Adelaide Hills (SA)

This is where small artisan winemakers distil quintessentially European wine for open minds. Dubbed the home of modern Australian chardonnay, you’ll be making Kath & Kim references all afternoon. Textured and refreshing, Adelaide Hills’ wines pair sublimely with the modern Australian-Asian cuisine we all love to graze on. If you’re craving a fresh, juicy accompaniment to your favourite fare, reach for the Charlotte Dalton Semillon ‘Love Me Love You’ in our For the Foodie pack. Bottoms up!

Riverland (SA)

The Riverland in South Australia is a warm-climate wine-producing region, located east of the Barossa Valley and responsible for around half of SA’s total wine quota. Impressive, right? Here, you’ll swish traditional benchmark varieties such as flourishing shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Our go-to Riverland-hailing fuel for bright, summer days is the Delinquenté Screaming Betty Vermentino from our Fresh Whites pack. Citrusy, clean and crisp, what’s not to love? It’s everything we want in a white wine.

Now that you’ve been formally acquainted with our hottest wine hubs, it’s time to book in your grand tour. If you need to convince a wine-loving girlfriend to hit the road with you, gift them a trial of the best regional drops from one of our curated packs! You’re welcome.
