Be the ultimate pre-drinks host before The Track This Spring Racing Season.
Pre-drinks (n): a series of fabulous libations among good company that often ends up being the best part of the entire celebratory affair. Fact.
When it comes to giddying up for Melbourne’s electric, glamorous and sartorial Spring Racing Season, we are huge
Saddle up with these sips.
It’s time to get your mixology on. Your girlfriends will be seriously swooning over these two insanely simple (but impressive) cocktails featuring our go-to Sunday Wine Co Cuvee Sparkling. For an equally pretty AND delish Elderflower Spritz;
- Elderflower liqueur
- Mineral Water
- Sunday Wine Co Cuvee sparkling (most importantly)
- Fresh lime wedges & a sprig of rosemary
Here’s what to do:
Pour out 15ml Elderflower liqueur with 120ml of sparkling and 30ml of mineral water. Oh, and make that on the rocks! Sprinkle with fresh mint leaves and garnish with lime for the best boozy spritzer on track. Divine.
For a Spring-charged take on a cult classic, we’ll also be adding a Ruby Red Grapefruit Mimosa to the menu.
- Sunday Wine Co Cuvee sparkling
- Grapefruit juice
- Fresh orange & grapefruit slices
Here’s what to do:
Simply divide your Sunday Wine Co sparkling lovingly between eight of your finest champagne flutes and top each with ⅓ cup of grapefruit juice. Pop some lime & orange wedges in to seal the deal, and you’re ready to cheers!
Blinkers on. Boards out.
Grazing is ideal after slipping into glamorous gowns and perfecting the ultimate bold lip. Gobbling up bite-sized, mouthwatering pieces of charcuterie is the dreamiest (and most convenient) way to stay well-fed before the racing begins – without undoing the hours spent on pre-glam. Nobody wants to see that. If you’re
Stallions of the custom antipasto platter world, these cheese board maestros make the most jaw-dropping plates. We’re backing THE GIRLS board for a hungry group of fillies. Think locally-sourced produce spanning cheese, crackers, cold meats, semi-dried tomatoes, feta stuffed olives, dips, quince paste, dried fruit, nuts, fresh fruit…just all the good stuff really.
If you opt to go DIY on the platter pursuit, we’d suggest a morning trip to your local market to garner the freshest and most delicious treats and produce, plus a good trawl through Country Road for a long oak timber board or Fenton & Fenton’s terrazzo tray to use as a gorgeous base for your
The victory lap soundtrack.
Nothing gets the race crew ready for a day of riotous fun like a good Spotify playlist. We’ve got a few tried and tested lists to REALLY up the ante on the good times before you head trackside. There’s a #Throwback Girls Night staple if you’re feeling nostalgic for a little Shania Twain, Weekend + Friends for a lineup of all the best Australian artists of right now, or Crush for something just a bit funky.
(At-home) fashions on the field.
Go floral or go home. It’s spring, after all. We’re in love with bespoke floral arrangements from Hello Blooms, but If you’re organising the blooms yourself, we’d recommend hitting up South Melbourne Market for beautiful, inexpensive cuts of a variety of flowers. For that extra boost of kaleidoscopic colour and spunk, these quirky vases from Jones & Co would make the perfect bench-top piece. After you’ve laid down your platters, pours, pressed play on the tunes and had a final spruce of your florals, it’s time for a dash of scent to finish. Put a diffuser (our pick is the Scented Space Crushed Fig scent) on the stage to throw a totally uplifting and fresh veil of fragrance over your space.
Congrats! You’re officially ready to trot off to this year’s Racing Season antics after lapping up all of the flowing drinks and beautiful surrounds that pre-drinks brings. We hope you’re feeling inspired to put on the hosting hat (or fascinator) this
